1970年代の学生闘争でも、組織内での男女のゴタゴタはつきものだった。「運動に加わればモテる」という理由で学生闘争に身を投じた男子学生も少なくなかったといわれる。右と左の違いこそあれ、フジ抗議デモにおいても同じようなゴタゴタが繰り返されているといえるだろう。

フジテレビ抗議デモはネット右翼（ネトウヨ）が中心となったデモといわれるが、意外にも参加者に20～30代の女性が多いことも、色恋沙汰を引き起こす原因となったと見られる。そして、同じ目的を持ったサークル内において、実力者の男性に引かれる女性が一定数いるということも大きい。あさま山荘事件で知られる「連合赤軍」のマドンナ・永田洋子も、恋人だったメンバー・坂口弘を捨てて、リーダーの森恒夫に乗り換えたことは有名だ。
