一昔前、YouTube やニコニコ動画のような動画共有サイトが日本の違法アニメだらけになり、削除されまくり、それに抵抗するかのようにアップしまくる人たちがいて、不毛な戦いが繰り広げられていた。ニコニコ動画では「削除人」を投入し、違法なアニメをガンガン削除していった。

そのかわり、ニコニコ動画は権利者と交渉し、現在は最新のアニメを合法に一週間無料で視聴することができるようなサービスを提供している。もちろん有料会員にならなくても視聴できる。しかもこれは、古いドラえもんとかサザエさんとかじゃなくて、最新の、現在テレビで放映されているアニメで、一昔前なら違法コンテンツをアップする人がアップしてはニコニコが削除してという無駄な労力が支払われていただろう、そんなコンテンツだ。
